1. Definitions
“Personal data” (Art. 4 No. 1 of the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”)), means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereinafter referred to as “data subject or user”).
“Processing” (Art. 4 No. 2 GDPR) means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means.
“Controller” (Art. 4 No. 7 GDPR) means the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data.
“Processor” (Art. 4 No. 8 GDPR) means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which processes personal data on behalf of the controller, in particular in accordance with the controller’s instructions (e.g. IT service provider).
“Third party” (Art. 4 No. 10 GDPR) means any natural or legal person, public authority, agency or body other than the data subject, controller, processor and persons who, under the direct authority of the controller or processor, are authorized to process personal data; this may also include other legal entities belonging to the group.
“Consent” (Art. 4 No. 11 GDPR) of the data subject means any freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject’s wishes by which he or she, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her.

3. Processing of personal data and purposes of processing / data erasure and storage period
In accordance with the provisions of the GDPR, any processing of personal data is generally prohibited unless the processing falls under a justification. We collect and process your data exclusively for specific purposes. These may result from technical necessities (hereinafter a) and b)) or explicit user requests (hereinafter c) and d)). The following justifications may apply to our data processing:
- Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. a GDPR (“consent”): Where the data subject has voluntarily, in an informed and unambiguous manner, indicated by a statement or other unambiguous affirmative act that he or she consents to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes;
- Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. b GDPR: If the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract;
- Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. f GDPR (“Legitimate interests”): Where processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests (in particular legal or economic) pursued by the controller or a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject (in particular where the data subject is a child).
- Section 26 (1) s. 1 BDSG: Where the processing is necessary for hiring decisions or, after hiring, for carrying out or terminating the employment contract or to exercise or satisfy rights and obligations of employees’ representation laid down by law or by collective agreements or other agreements between the employer and staff council.
Based on this, we specify the applicable legal bases for the processing operations we carry out below. Processing may also be based on several legal bases:
a) Web hosting by processors
We use the web hosting service of domainfactory GmbH, Oskar-Messter-Str. 33, 85737 Ismaning, Germany (hereinafter referred to as “domainfactory”) to provide this website.
In connection with hosting, domainfactory processes personal data on our behalf on the basis of a contract in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, in which both parties, HELLA and domainfactory, agree on the data protection and information security requirements (hereinafter referred to as “data processing agreement”). In order to be able to offer this website, it is necessary to work with a web hosting service. The processing of data by domainfactory is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. f GDPR on the basis of our legitimate economic interest in the proper presentation of our services on this website.
We have concluded a data processing agreement with domainfactory. Through this contract, the service provider ensures that it processes the data in accordance with the GDPR and guarantees the protection of the rights of the data subject.
b) When visiting the website
You can visit the website www.hella-ignite.com without telling us who you are. The browser you use on your device automatically sends information to the server of our website (e.g. date and time of access, name and URL of the file accessed, browser type and version, website from which access is made (referrer URL)), which does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. This also includes the IP address of your requested device. This data is not stored by us or by our web hosting provider.
c) When applying for a job offer
In order to apply for a job offer, you must provide the following personal information:
- title (optional),
- first and last name,
- e-mail address,
- motivation
- upload curriculum vitae and/or (work) certificates.
Your aforementioned personal data will be processed exclusively for the purpose of processing your application, for hiring decisions or for carrying out an employment contract and, if applicable, for matching your application data with new vacancies that may be of interest to you. We process your aforementioned data according to Art. 88 GDPR in conjunction with § 26 (1) BDSG as well as according to Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. b GDPR lawful.
If you have given your consent to be included in the talent pool in accordance with Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. a GDPR, your personal data will be stored for up to 24 months after completion of the application process. Otherwise, we will delete your personal data 6 months after completion of the application process.
If you have given your consent in the applicant portal with regard to inclusion in the talent pool in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR , you can revoke this consent at any time in writing by e-mail to jobs@hella-ignite.com.
d) When sending your unsolicited application
You also have the possibility to send us an unsolicited application by e-mail. The application documents you send us will be processed solely for the purpose of processing your application, for hiring decisions or for carrying out an employment contract and, if necessary, comparing them with new vacancies that may be of interest to you.
We process your personal data in accordance with Art. 88 GDPR in conjunction with § 26 (1) BDSG as well as according to Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. b GDPR for the initiation or carrying out of an employment relationship.
If we do not find suitable vacancies for you, we will delete your personal data 6 months after sending it to us.
4. Transfer of data
In addition, we only transfer your personal data to third parties if:
- you have given your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. a GDPR;
- if there is a legal obligation to pass on the data in accordance with Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. c GDPR or a judicial or lawful official order to transfer the data;
- the disclosure of data is necessary for the performance of a contractual relationship pursuant to Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. b GDPR.
5. No Cookies Used
Our website does not use cookies, neither essential nor non-essential. We do not track, collect, or store any data related to your browsing behavior. Your visit to our site remains completely anonymous.
Voluntarily Shared Information
We only receive and store personal information if you intentionally choose to share it with us, for example, by sending an email to apply for a job or to request information. This data is used solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry or processing your application and is not shared with third parties without your consent.
6. Emergency contact
We also receive your personal data (name and telephone number) indirectly, i.e. from third parties, if one of our employees provides us with your contact details as an emergency contact or names you as a direct contact person to be contacted by us in the event of a (medical or other) emergency. In this case, our employees must provide consent in our platform, which highlights you have given your consent for the employee to transfer your data to us and for us to store your data as an emergency contact and to use your data in the event of an emergency.
Data processing is carried out for the aforementioned purposes in accordance with Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit. a GDPR on the basis of your consent.
We regularly update the emergency contacts to ensure that the contact details are correct and up to date. If the employee who provided your contact details leaves our company, your contact details will be deleted immediately. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. 8. Technical data security
All data that you personally transmit is encrypted using the common and secure TLS (Transport Layer Security) standard. TLS is a secure and proven standard that is also used, for example, in online banking.
